Amr’s passion for civic engagement and his innovation-driven solution to civic engagement has made him our selected spotlight for the month of August 2014.
With a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Tanta, Amr co-created MorsiMeter which was then used to track the performance of the Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi. He also co-founded Dawaa, PushBots, Zabatak and other software applications targeted on improving the civic response of the Egyptian people.
An African Millennial, Amr has been labelled an Information Activist and Social Entrepreneur, with Award decorations from the World Summit Youth Award (2012), Anzisha Fellowship (September 2011), Egypt’s National Award (2004), Mtandao Afrika Platinum Award (2006 -2009), Think Quest Africa Golden Award and others.
In his spear time he writes and is considered a poet. He published two poetry collections in classical Arabic titled “Zatul Redaa’ al-Kormozeyy” and “Yawmyat Kahl Sagheer al-Sen”.
